The first ATCA hunt tests for 2008 will be held in conjunction with the Great Lakes Floating Specialty, July 24th. An Upland and Retriever hunt test will be held at the Wren Valley Hunt Club, which is about 16 miles (25 minutes) driving time from the host hotel. We will be changing the test venue from the traditional Airedale tests to the AKC Spaniel test. If you are not familiar with the AKC tests please visit the AKC www.akc.org/pdfs/rulebooks/RHTSPN.pdf (Spaniel test rules) Dr. Susan Sarracino-Deihl and Bernie Rupp will be our judges for the Spaniel test. For those of you with dogs in training, or would just like to bring your dog and see how their hunting skills stack up, Hal Standish will be holding a Handler and Judges workshop to introduce new hunters and their dogs to the Spaniel Test, as well as familiarize experienced hunters with Judging the Spaniel test. If you are unsure of where your dog fits in, please use the Survey tool ( press this link to see it ) to help you determine where your dog and you would be most successful. Please DO NOT bring untrained dogs to take the test. Testing space will be limited. Please DO bring novice dogs to the workshop!!! Friday July 25th will be the fur day with fur tests/workshops in the afternoon following the conformation/obedience activities. The fur tests will be at the Kipp farm.
