Cooley Memorial Hunt Test

On behalf of the ATCA Hunting and Field Committee, I would like to welcome you to our Cooley Memorial Hunt Test scheduled to take place May 21-23, 2021 in Beaver Dam Wisconsin.  Our plans are not yet 100% finalized, but our plans for the three day Airedale Club event include:

  • An ATCA Airedale Terrier Fur Tracking and Trailing Test and an ATCA Airedale Terrier Junior Retriever Hunt test to be held on Airedale Day, Friday May 21st.
  • An AKC licensed Spaniel (Upland) Hunt Test for Airedale Terriers and all eligible Spaniel Hunt test breeds on Saturday May 22nd.
  • An AKC licensed Spaniel (Upland) Hunt Test for Airedale Terriers and all eligible Spaniel Hunt test breeds on Sunday May 23rd.

New for 2021… We will be running the Spaniel Hunt Tests with two separate flights of dogs each day instead of having two separate tests with Junior and Senior dogs in one test and Master dogs in the other.  Each flight will have Junior, Senior, and Master dogs.  We feel this will help the flow of the tests and allow everyone to see dogs perform at all levels.

Premiums and entry forms for the Airedale Day events will likely be emailed to you around mid March.  Premiums and entry forms for the Spaniel tests will again be handled online by Hunt Secretary.com and should be available to enter the week of March first.  Our events usually fill quickly so be sure to enter right away if you plan to attend and run a dog.

For those of you who don’t have a dog to run or you just like to watch, I suggest you definitely come on Friday to see all of the Airedales in action and meet the handlers.  Then, I suggest that you come back on Saturday to see the Airedales again as they and all of the different Spaniel breeds work the field to look for birds and then splash into the water to retrieve even more.

Camping is available on site.  We are hoping COVID-19 is more under control by the time we hold the test.  However, we will still be instituting CDC recommended protocols for wearing masks and social distancing where we gather to keep everyone safe.

So, we hope you will mark your calendar for this year’s event.  It is sure to be another great weekend outdoors watching some fabulous dog work.  Let me know if you have questions.
